GUYS. GUYS! First of all, my parents have vacated my new apartment, so I can use the internet in peace again! \o/ But that is not the point of this post.

The point of the post is this video. This is a commercial for the Youth Pass of my local bus system from 2001 and it is awesome. We got a lot of Eugene channels down in Coos Bay and I loved this commercial. It's my jam, guys. Trufax.

There are still times when I find myself thinking 'Oh god, I need to show this to Amelia. She'll flip'. This is one of those times.

Look at this Vice President, he's got llamas on his tie, goddamn )

Portland offered to buy White Stag sign

I have a lot of surprisingly (okay, not surprisingly, but I'm going to pretend) strong feelings about this. >:(

Happy Halloween! Today, instead of doing my readings for class or otherwise being productive, I've typed up something festive from my notebook of shame.

When I get blocked on real fic, I work on my entirely self indulgent and ridiculous Bob Is A Werewolf and They Run A Recording Studio!AU. I'm blocked a lot, so I have a lot more of it than actual fic.

2460 words worth of total procrastination and ridiculousness. But 'tis the season and it's at a pretty good stopping point, so I'm going to share with you.

Please keep in mind that it's totally ridiculous and utter badfic.

His sleeve was already dripping with blood from the bites, but at least his jugular was still intact. )

And now I'm going to go buy things that I need to throw a costume together. I am such a procrastinator.

Sometimes when I'm away from my computer/using another computer, I email myself with notes and reminders of things I want to look at when I'm back home.

Usually it's links and things that I promptly ignore and forget about until later when my inbox gets too cluttered.

It's kind of fun when I find things hidden in between the links, like random lines of fic that occur to me while I'm walking around campus:

All Cash wants to know is how the hell you no homo your way out of being pregnant.

Title: Fools Whether We Dance Or Not
Author:
Pairing: Cash/Singer
Rating: R for language
Word Count: 2189
Disclaimer: Not even a little bit real. Except for the part where Singer did ask Cash to a dance once.
Summary: Googling 'Boys taking boys to prom' is really unhelpful when you're trying to figure out if you need to buy your best friend a corsage.
Author's Note: Many thanks to my beta and the wonderful people who audienced this and encouraged me to keep writing. :D

so we might as well dance )

I am animal sitting this weekend for The Ex Roommates Sarah and Matt, and was looking forward to a weekend of watching stuff on the big nice tv and dipping around on my computer.

Unfortunately, my computer has decided to fuck up majorly. >:( So I am borrowing Sarah's, but it's not the same. I was going to play the Sims and things. :(

It's really weird. My screen was being all flickery on one side, then after a while went black. I restarted it and it was okay for about three minutes before going black again. It's fine before Windows boots, so I'm guessing it's a settings problem or a glitch? I don't even know.

I can't afford to get it fixed right now, so any suggestions you have would be much appreciated. I can kind of see what I'm doing if I tilt the screen all the way back and squint in good light, so if there's something that can be done with settings and things I can give it a shot.

I swear to god, they played Yearbook. I laughed through half the first verse at least.

Hanson was awesome. They played a good mix of old stuff (MMMBop, Yearbook, Minute Without You, A Song To Sing), middle stuff (Penny and Me, and other stuff from Underneath, which I do not know, and stuff they played their last acoustic tour) and new stuff (a few songs, all about change and making a difference and ballad from Zac that hit some of my musical buttons).

The opening band was really enjoyable. Everybody Else (a band name that beats out The Cab for 'hard to google without qualifiers'). I saw the bassist on my walk to my car and gave him a high five, which he seemed pretty thrilled about. :D

I took some video of MMMBop and Minute Without You, but I'm too lazy to upload and post, lol.

There was a really cute gay guy often blocking my view of Ike, but I forgave him because he was so thrilled to be at the concert. His boyfriend was significantly less so, but he also was wearing a vest over a t-shirt with text on it. Yuck. I
find that absolutely unacceptable. Cute Hanson Fanboy could do much better.

ETA: Speaking of bad fashion choices, just like he did 5 years ago, Taylor was rocking the skinny belt and skinny suspenders. Oh, bb, it's just not as cool as you seem to think it is.

They didn't play With You In Your Dreams, so I didn't have to cry. I did get a little teared up before the concert began, especially because the stamp they stamped me with when they took my ticket said:

FRIENDS ARE FOREVER

I am all moved. Did I mention I was moving? I don't remember and I'm too lazy to go back and look. *laughs* I fail at mentioning major details in my life on livejournal.

Anyway, I am back in Eugene. My cat is pissed off, my apartment is full of boxes. I am stealing internet from the complex's community center. \o/

I fear my knee is never going to forgive me.

One unfortunate thing about not having cable is that I can't see the Olympic rowing. :( Last Olympics, it was always on on some cable only channel at like 3am! It made my insomniac self very happy.

I love that, at the beginning of this number the people on the street are like "WTF is this guy doing singing and roller skating on our sidewalk. What a strange, funny man!" Okay, so maybe the point is that they're going "Look at this full grown man wandering the streets in roller skates, ha ha!" EITHER WAY, I like that the the crowd doesn't immediately fall into this man's musical, you know?

Gene Kelly (who is the coolest of the cool for a billion years running now) has several numbers like this (as I think about it, oh, Singing in the Rain for one) and I love it. I was the kind of person (was? am) who wished her life was a musical all the time and this sort of number kind of says that if you want your life to be a musical, go out there and sing and dance. Production numbers not required. (Though being an amazing singer and tap dancer might help you not get mocked off the sidewalk and you could put down a hat and profit from your happy if you so desire.)

I don't know, I just dig it.

Am back in Oregon. Have been up since 3:40am Germany time, which amounts to, um, yesterday sometime for the states. It's funny because the flight was 10hrs, and the time difference is 9hrs, so I got back to the States only a couple hours after I left Germany ;).

Sooo tirrrred. Owe the people who took care of the Cat like... billions of favors.

Brian McNamee is like the fakest looking real name I have seen in a while.

Seriously, people.

(Also, I really don't know anything about this whole sports steroids thing, I just saw the name in a headline and was like "What? Is that a name?" So, you know, feel free to get into a discussion about steroids in the comments, but don't expect me to contribute anything beyond "But guys, HIS NAME IS McNAMEE. HILARITY.")

You ain't a woman. You're more than a woman! You're an engineer!
Tonight I watched Operation Petticoat. It's a really funny movie and god, I would do Cary Grant's character in a heartbeat. One of my favorite archetypes, the staid, straitlaced, honorable guy swept away in the tide of wacky hijinks.

Also, from certain angles, Tony Curtis looked so much like John Barrowman that I had to double take. Ahoy!
